Good morning from our hotel room in New York sweet people. As always, we are staying in SoHo, one of my favorite places in Manhattan. Obviously we are here for NYFW where we will attend a few great shows, but also do two big shoots: one for my favorite online magazine and a very special one for another magazine (be prepared to see me from a different perspective). Before I assembled my Fashion Week looks, which are usually made up of more statement pieces, I decided to stick with casual looks for my last few days at home.
You know those days where you dig through everything in your closet and think ‘I have absolutely nothing to wear’? Well, those days happen to me more often than you’d think, especially when I’m pressed for time and want to get ready quickly, but without the hassle. Thank goodness there is one item that never fails to elevate my style game, no matter the occasion: my leather trousers. They are my knight in fashion armour!
A lot of you guys have asked about them on Instagram and what’s great about them is that the texture and detailing is able to add a little something special to any look without having to put too much effort into it. Imagine these were a pair of simple black skinny jeans—definitely not the same feeling or look, right? They are the ideal choice not just for their chic aesthetic, but because they can be worn with anything to everything. Flexible fashion, my favorite! The ribbed detailing on the upper thighs and the staggered zippers give a little more edge to the look than a basic pair of pants could.
I also like the way these Stella McCartney ankle boots merge with the leather, giving the illusion that they are attached to the pants. I like being able to mix high-street with high-end pieces because it creates a more grounded look, don’t you think? To complete the outfit, I felt that the chain strap on the purse and zipper embellishment on this dark steel blue jacket tied everything together neatly. Remember, you don’t need a special occasion to wear leather pants. I’d wear them everyday if I could, whether at the office or out for brunch on the weekends with the important people in my life. Give me an edgy look that's casual and contemporary, I'm in! A
