There we arrived, at the most breathtaking location you can imagine: the gardens of Versaille. I was instantly mesmerized by the royal French demesne that involved fountains, paths, sculptures, and green lawns. No explanation was needed why Versailles has been such a great place of inspiration for Christian Dior. I immediately visualized how he imagined the amazing balls that were held in the Hall of Mirrors, and Marie-Antoinette strolling around the enormous chateau.
I was overwhelmed by several emotions, and mostly I felt honored to find myself in this moment surrounded by people that made this experience even more special. Every once in a while I pinched myself, just to check if this opportunity we had was really happening. Dior once said:
The couturier knows this: every woman is a princess
… And I truly felt like one while discovering the gardens of Versaille. We were accompanied by the magical sky that changed almost every few minutes, from bright blue to deep grey colors. I was shrouded in a dress that nearly looked like silver and carried a Dior embroidered bag around.
In that bag I kept something that fitted the ambiance of the location perfectly: the Dior 'Golden Shock' lipstick (as seen on the picture) which contains a gold-toned casing, round and engraved with the Dior logo that featured a two-toned lipstick. It involved a pure matte color on one side, and an iridescent color on the other side. Something I haven't seen before. Combining these two makes it possible to achieve several effects, of which my favorite is to create more volume. I achieved this by applying the matte color first, and the iridescent one on the middle of the lips to highlight.
While looking back to this journey, everything feels surreal. I'm super proud to share the results of the story that we created together with the Dior team. These shots prove that this amazing opportunity actually happened.
